😂 “Work starts at 9:00... and you actually showed up at 9:00?!” Welcome to the world of the Kkondae. 😂 If you're not Korean, you might be wondering: What does “Kkondae” (꼰대) mean? “Kkondae” is a Korean slang term for someone — often an older or more senior person — who is overly authoritative, believes their own experience and old-fashioned ways are always correct, and expects younger people or subordinates to follow those same rules. It's not simply another word for an “old person.” It's more about the mindset: “Back in my day...” “That's how we used to do it.” “You're leaving work already?” “Work starts at 9, so you should be here by 8:30!” (I’m a Kkondae)” is a humorous hip-hop song that exaggerates this classic old-school workplace mentality. A boss who thinks his experience is the answer to everything. A boss who has his own definition of what “being on time” means. And employees who can only stand there thinking... “Wow... what a Kkondae.” This song and music video turn Korean workplace culture into an exaggerated comedy with fast hip-hop energy. It's satire. It's ridiculous. And for some office workers... it might feel a little too familiar.
