Among its most haunting scenes was that of a father ibis who, even as a Eurasian eagle owl approached in the dead of night, refused to flee. Instead, he stayed — wings wrapped around his young — until the end. That night, the father ibis and all his chicks lost their lives. And yet, the father sings. This song is a tribute to the “Ibis Avengers” — the elderly women of Upo village who took turns guarding the nest every day, throwing clumps of earth and clapping their hands to drive away predators and protect life.
